Welcome to Avoca, Arkansas, a charming town in Benton County,
nestled at 1,362 feet on the Springfield Plateau of the Ozark
Mountains. Covering 1.8 square miles within the
Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Metropolitan Area, our residents
enjoy a friendly community, embodying small-town warmth.
Founded in 1881 after relocating for the Frisco Railroad,
Avoca—meaning “the gathering place” in Native American
tradition—grew from a bustling stagecoach stop along Old Wire Road
into a thriving 1920s rail hub. Despite challenges from the Great
Depression and Highway 62’s 1934 rerouting, our resilience led to
incorporation in 1966. Known as the “Gateway to North Beaver Lake,”
Avoca offers scenic lake access and a cherished country lifestyle.
Our diverse community fosters family-friendly living and our rich
history and vibrant spirit drive our active role in Benton County’s
growth. Join us in celebrating our heritage and welcoming
atmosphere—Avoca truly is a gathering place for all.
